Improving Student Reading Comprehension
"The most powerful component of guided reading is the interaction between the teacher and the reader. And the responses you evoke from the reader are only as good as what you say to elicit those responses."
Jan Richardson (2016)
The purpose of my study was to determine if the use of targeted questions during guided reading would increase student achievement in reading comprehension.
I am a first grade teacher in the Omaha metropolitan area. At the time of this study, I was a first-year educator and a graduate student at the University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO). As a member of UNO's CADRE Project, I was working towards my Master of Science in Elementary Education with a Concentration in Early Childhood Education. This website is a culmination of my 2018-2019 Capstone Project.
